Job summary

The Technical Compliance Officer will be responsible for supporting the organization’s adherence to technical compliance and certification requirements set by various regulatory authorities, including the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission (IOM GSC), and the Curacao Gaming Control Board (GCB).

This role involves overseeing the organization’s readiness and alignment with technical compliance requirements in both existing and emerging markets. It includes engaging with regulatory frameworks from authorities such as the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA), Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA), Netherlands Gaming Authority (NGA), Hellenic Gambling Commission, and other European regulators. Beyond Europe, the role also encompasses preparing for compliance with international markets, including those governed by the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting in Brazil, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), and other jurisdictions as needed.

The Technical Compliance Officer will also collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure ongoing certification, adherence to technical standards, and proactive response to regulatory developments worldwide.

The Technical Compliance Officer will report to the Technical Compliance Manager within the Technology Unit of the organization and ultimately to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Responsibilities 

  • Ensure the organization meets and maintains Technical Compliance and Certification requirements set by the MGA, IOM GSC, GCB, and others.
  • Develop, update, and maintain Technical Compliance and Certification-driven policies and procedures to meet the standards of the MGA, IOM GSC, GCB.
  • Conduct routine checks, regular internal audits and inspections to ensure Technical Compliance and Certification standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of routine checks, regular internal audits, certification activities, and assessments.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the internal quality management system.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with Technical Compliance and Certification requirements and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Support the Technical Compliance Manager in managing certification processes for the organization’s Games, Studio, Platform, and Information Security Management System (ISMS).
  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure that staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities related to Technical Compliance and Certification.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure a control system is in place and followed to mitigate risks and prevent regulatory incidents.
  • Monitor industry trends and advancements in Technical Compliance and Certification requirements.
  • Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, testing laboratories and consultants on any compliance-related matters. Any other ad-hoc duties relevant to the role.

Knowledge Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business administration, information systems, or information technology. (is preferred)
  • Having acquired a certificate – Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or any similar certification (is highly valued)
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical compliance and/or related field, preferably in the online gaming or a related industry is required.
  • Experience working with testing laboratories and/or external auditors, and/or for testing laboratories, regulators and/or external auditors will be considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of technical compliance and licensing requirements such as MGA, IOM GSC, and GCB.
  • Good understanding of industry standards such as GLI Composite Submission Requirements, GLI Change Management Program Guide, GLI-13, GLI-19, GLI-21, GLI-28, GLI-29, GLI-33.
